  • The Human Brainwave

Brainwave patterns can easily be altered via a process known as brainwave entrainment.  FFR (or ‘frequency following response) occurs when the brain synchronises to a rythm. In it’s standard form, brainwave synchronization has endured for thousands of years, and dates back to historical tribal customs.

It could be said that the home use of consciousness exploration techniques was pioneered by Robert Monroe and his Monroe Institute.  Brainwave entrainment is employed among the Monroe Institute’s methods, utilising the Hemi-Sync technology that Robert Monroe patented in 1975, which carries an evolution of the binaural beats technology.  Since then Hemi-Sync has become somewhat of an industry standard inside the brainwave entrainment commercial marketplace.   The Hemi-Sync productions are widely acknowledged and respected.

Scientific studies aside, many corporations proceed to take on brainwave entrainment research.  A recognized brainwave entrainment expert would be The Transparent Corporation. For around a decade, The Transparent Corporation has created some of the major entrainment software, the latest of which is now used the world over for clinical research and treatment of patients.

    Theoretical uses for Brainwave Entrainment

In some ways The Monroe Institute initiated and the pushed the boundary of what is achievable with brainwave entrainment.  This was for the most part a consequence of Robert Monroe’s vast experience with altered states of consciousness.  He spread this knowledge with anyone who was interested, one of his goals was to assist people with personal self-discovery.  This possibly was one of the purposes of his numerous books.  The Monroe Institute to this day, still provides courses and training for the public.

The very aim of brainwave entrainment is to bring about an altered state of consciousness, this it exhibited even in something as common as sleep initiation; the changing of consciousness from an awakened state, into a state of sleep.  Numerous users of brainwave entrainment experience this fact every day through use of even the most plain components of this technology.

Brainwave Entrainment – a Modern Shaman Practice

Although brainwave entrainment is used extensively within established scientific and medical fields, its development within the consumer sector has been primarily down to individuals engaged with holistic and alternative living.  The maturation in interest of subjects like meditation, lucid dreaming and alternative healing are a plain manifestation of this.

Bringing ones attention to individual and emotional realisations the foundation upon which brainwave entrainment may be further developedit grants access to experiences that science is only now reaching
